Meet Michael Tardio, DPT, LAT, ATC

Dr. Michael Tardio, DPT, LAT, ATC is the Chief Operating Officer and second-generation co-owner of East Suburban Sports Medicine Center. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013 and is also a graduate of Pitt’s Athletic Training Program, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 2010, graduating summa cum laude.
Dr. Tardio’s clinical expertise centers on orthopedic, post-surgical, and sports-related injuries. In addition to his role as COO, he serves as Director of Athletic Training, treats patients in the Plum office, and provides athletic training services for the Plum Borough School District, his alma mater.

A lifelong Pitt Panther, Dr. Tardio previously worked as a student athletic trainer at the University of Pittsburgh, where he provided sports medicine care for the 2008–2009 Men’s Basketball team that earned a No. 1 national ranking and NCAA tournament No. 1 seed, the Pitt Football team that won the Meineke Car Care Bowl, as well as Pitt Softball and Women’s Soccer. He currently serves on the Tim Kerin Memorial Scholarship Committee at the University of Pittsburgh, supporting and honoring future athletic training professionals.

A competitive soccer player throughout his life, Dr. Tardio continues to play at a high level and has a particular passion for treating soccer athletes. He is deeply committed to giving back to his community and currently volunteers as an Assistant Coach for the Plum High School Boys Soccer team. He also serves on the Plum Area Youth Soccer Board, is President of the Plum Soccer Alumni Club, and is President of the Plum High School Sports Hall of Fame.
